Choral Evensong takes place on Thursdays at 5.30pm and Sundays at 3pm and lasts for approximately 45 minutes. This formal service combines the memorable cadences of Thomas Cranmer’s Book of Common Prayer with a distinctive repertoire of English Church music. During term-time these services are sung by the Abbey’s choirs of Girls and Lay-clerks, or Boys and Lay-clerks. During the holidays these services may be sung by visiting choirs.
Today, we are joined by Hayesfield School choir in combination with our own Abbey Girls’ Choir.
An opportunity for regular worshippers, newcomers and visitors to step out of the ‘busyness’ of their daily lives and to reconnect with their spiritual lives, whatever their beliefs. Words, silence and music combine in this beautiful space to inspire and to calm.
The collection from our midweek choral evensongs goes to the Abbey to support the educational provision for our choirs.
