Gardener’s Lodge Art Group begin project on Abbey’s stained glass windows

The Gardener’s Lodge Art Group has started a six week project to explore the Abbey’s many beautiful stained glass windows. The group meet every Wednesday afternoon in the Abbey’s new Learning Centre, working with Polly Andrews, Learning Officer and Sophie Piddock, an experienced multi-media artist.

The group has been busy sketching designs then creating them using inks and glass paints, working with clear acrylic plastic and specially prepared glass panels. The participants will end with a unique and personal creation, inspired by the Abbey’s historically important stained glass designs.

The Gardener’s Lodge group, part of the ‘Pathways to Wellbeing’ project, provides a friendly and supportive space in which people can develop their arts skills, be creative and meet other people in a safe environment. All the projects take inspiration from the Holburne Museum’s collection, exhibitions and site, plus those of partner Museums. High quality arts experiences stimulate engagement, learning and increased self-worth and working with professional, specialist artists gives an opportunity to explore exciting artforms
