Schools’ Singing Programme

The idea aim of our Schools' Singing Programme is simple – we wanted to share our experience of choral singing with local schools and children to discover the joys of choral music; something we hope stays with them for the rest of their lives. Singing in a group has a positive impact on the children’s overall attitudes and behaviour, helping to build their confidence, concentration, and teamwork skills and challenges them intellectually and musically.

What we offer

30 hour-long sessions a year with our Music Department who will come to your school and get the children singing as a choir and having fun. We also hope to share ideas and training techniques with teaching staff so that they can take what we do further.

The needs, expectations and abilities of the children at every school we visit are different so we will work with the music or class teacher to create a tailored and coherent programme which fits each school’s curriculum and approach. Whether your school is looking simply to encourage the children to enjoy music more or to improve pupils' vocal techniques and theory, we welcome the opportunity to work with you.

The Programme also includes the chance to perform in the Abbey in front a live audience.

Cost

Our annual fee is £1,800 for primary schools and £3,000 for secondary schools. There are, however, a number of applicable government schemes and special funding on which we would be happy to advise you. Please ask if you would like any additional information.

I used to be quite shy at singing but you made me more confident and I even did a solo, I can’t believe it.”
