Welcome to Bath Abbey

We are overjoyed that the Abbey is now open. We recognise that many of us are grieving losses of many kinds and are facing heightened levels of fear and anxiety. The Abbey is a place to come to God. At the same time we continue to offer online resources to support each other and the city of Bath through this difficult period

Revd Canon Bridgewater, Rector of Bath Abbey

Message from our Rector

Come unto me, all you who are weary and are heavy laden” said Jesus to the crowds who gathered around him, “and I will give you rest”.

It is a great delight to be able to throw open the Abbey doors once again, so that all may draw near to the Lord in the stillness of this holy place.

I join the whole Bath Abbey family in praying for God’s love and renewing strength to greet you afresh, and to fill your hearts with peace as you draw near to Him”

The Revd Canon Guy Bridgewater
Rector of Bath Abbey

Opening Times & Safety Measures

We look forward to welcoming you and will be open:

  • Mondays-Saturdays 10am - 4pm
  • Sundays 12pm - 4pm

Last entry is 3.45pm.

We have made some changes to ensure everyone can enjoy the Abbey safely. We are supporting NHS Test & Trace and are part of Visit England’s “We’re Good To Go” industry standard. To find out more, please see our Keeping you safe page.

You're invited to come in to pause and reflect, pray or light a candle. You'll be able to walk around and enjoy your surroundings or sit down and rest in the nave. The Birde Chapel and Gethsemane Chapel are also open and chaplains will be available to offer their support and prayers. Although we are not running group tours, there is still plenty to see and do.

Find out what to expect by watching this short video of the inside of the Abbey.
