Behind the Scenes Tours

People in high-vis jackets and hard hats kneeling during a Behind the Scenes Tour at Bath Abbey

Put on hard hats and take a sneak peek at the historic floor as it is saved from collapse and its 891 memorial stones are conserved. Our Behind the Scenes tours will visit parts of the Abbey that are usually off limits to members of the public, and thanks to our experienced guides, will discover just why there are so many memorial stones on the Abbey floor, why the floor is collapsing, and the complex work carried out to repair the floor as part of our Footprint Project, as well as some of the things the team of archaeologists have found out along the way.

Please note the Behind the Scene Tours are not currently running but will begin again on Tuesday 15 January 2019 at 11am.

Tours take place every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday at 11am. Tours last about 1hr 15 mins.

Adults £10 (suitable for ages 16+), free for Discovery Card holders
Tickets can be purchased from the Abbey Shop up to 2 days in advance.

Hard hats, hi-vis jackets, and steel toe cap boots will be provided. Due to the nature of the route that the tour takes, it is not fully accessible. If you would like to find out more, please give us a call on 01225422462 and we would be happy to discuss in more detail about how we may accomodate your access needs.
