Thought & Anthem for the Day and Worship for the Week

Like you, all of us at Bath Abbey continue to watch the reports of the spreading coronavirus outbreak. The unprecedented peacetime measures announced by the Government, including the closure of all places of worship, inevitably come with a sense of trepidation over the unknowns and the risks to the health of everyone in our communities. This season of self-isolation and social distancing is a time for heightened prayer, and prayerful action too as we look to Almighty God to lead, protect and guide us.

Psalm 121: "From where will my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth."

Our Rector, The Revd Canon Guy Bridgewater, and our clergy team will be sharing on this page  regular thoughts and anthems for the day as well as a weekly service of worship.

If you would like prayer for any specific reason, please send us a short email to [email protected]. A specially commissioned team, led by one of the clergy, will pray for you.

Worship for the Week

As we're no longer able to welcome you for our Sunday services in the Abbey, we'll be posting a video of a weekly act of worship with our clergy every Sunday. We're hoping this gives you the opportunity to worship with us and our video will enable you to develop a new rhythm of life and worship wherever you are.

We're also be posting videos of worship, prayer and activities for our families and young people every week.

Holy Week & Easter

As we are not able to gather together physically at the Abbey, we will be gathering as the ‘body of Christ’ around a shared act of worship with specially and remotely recorded videos by our clergy team. We hope you will join us and invite friends and family to do likewise. Please click here to see our schedule of worship for Holy Week and Easter.

Thought for the Day

Our thought for the day - Saturday 4 April 2020 - comes from Revd Evelyn Lee-Barber.

Evelyn talks about gratitude and shows the things that have given her joy and for which she is thankful for this week. Evelyn invites others to think of what they are thankful for each day and to send her a picture or a few sentences to her email: [email protected]
Give thanks in all circumstances, 1 Thessalonians 5:18.

Anthem for the day

We also would like to share with you a piece of music sung by our Choir and chosen by our Director of Music, Huw Williams:
