Our hope is for everyone to have a meaningful and memorable experience of worship during Advent and Christmas. Regretfully, this year our seating capacity is greatly reduced due to essential building and restoration work. While we have increased the number of major services, unfortunately not everyone will be able to get a ticket or a seat for the more popular services. Furthermore, there may be limited visibility of the service from a number of seats.
For this reason, we're taking part in the Church of England's #FollowtheStar campaign and have joined together with our sister church, St Michael's Without in Broad Street, BA1 5LJ to encourage everyone to go to their local church Christmas service or event, and to go further on their Christian journey. For more information, please visit: www.achurchnearyou.com.
If you would like to attend one of our ticketed services, please see below. To find out about our other Christmas services or events, please see our What's On section or click here to see our leaflet.
Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols at Bath Abbey
Monday 23 Dec 5 and 7.30pm (all tickets now allocated)
A beautiful service based around nine Bible readings interspersed with Christmas hymns and carols sung by the Abbey Choir of Boys and Lay-Clerks.
Entry is by (free) ticket only. We're very sorry but tickets for BOTH services have now been allocated.
Please note that there MAY be a limited number of returned tickets on the day for both services. If you would like to queue for these, please arrive about half an hour before the start of each service. While we'll try our best to find you a seat, please be advised there is no guarantee.
We thank you for your patience and support. Our churchwardens will, in every case, make the process as fair as it can possibly be, and will be glad of everyone’s co-operation and understanding.
We're giving our free leaflets for our Nativity Trail - a perfect activity for families! You can collect a Nativity Trail leaflet from the welcome area at the entrance of the Abbey. The Trail is hosted by 13 neighbours of the Abbey; independent traders in close vicinity of the church, each hosting a part from the Nativity scene in their shop window. It takes approximately 25 minutes. At the end of the trail, bring your completed leaflet back to the Abbey to collect your prize, and visit the Gethsemane chapel in the Abbey to see the whole Nativity story.
