Hayden Payne has just graduated from Chethams School of Music where he studied with Christopher Stokes, Director of Music at Manchester Cathedral. Hayden was interested in music from the young age of 5 and was a member of his primary school choir.  He then joined Bath Abbey Melody Makers performing in many different venues and went on tour to Liverpool Cathedral. At the age of 8 Hayden started taking piano lessons and during his time in the Melody Makers he fell in love with the organ. He was a dedicated member of Bath Abbey Boys choir for 4 years. During his time in the choir they sang for the Archbishop of Canterbury, BBC Songs of Praise live TV broadcast, and radio broadcasts. He also sung in many different churches such as Liverpool Cathedral, Liverpool Metropolitan, St Marys Redcliffe, Chapel Royal Hampton Court, and even went on tour to the Netherlands. Hayden has had many solos and was even appointed Head Chorister. He has performed under the direction of Peter King, Shean Bowers and Huw Williams.

During Hayden’s time at secondary school he played piano for school mass. He also played the organ for their annual carol services at St John’s Catholic Church. Hayden spends his Sundays either at Bath Abbey or Manchester Cathedral by reading or playing for the congregation as well as page turning for the organists when needed. He was awarded a full organ scholarship to one of the top music schools in Britain, Chetham’s School of Music. During his time at Chethams, Hayden has regularly played for their Founders Day Service, Weekly assemblies and Christmas music. He has played for members of the British Council Office and has been awarded with the Mark Masters Mason award and was appointed the junior organ scholar at Manchester Cathedral allowing him to play for more services within the cathedral. On top of all his studies at Chethams, Hayden runs the Chethams Community choir. Hayden has played for services and performed recitals in Bath Abbey.

Hayden has just secured a place to study organ at the Royal College of Music which he will start in September. Hayden has performed at Bridgewater Hall with the Chethams Symphony orchestra in Walton’s phenomenal Belshazzar’s Feast.
