Harmony Across Cultures: A Violin Duet Recital

Yinxuan Huang is a violinist from China. She is an interdisciplinary violinist who has earned bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in law with distinction. Now, she is studying for a Master of Arts at the Royal Academy of Music, majoring in violin performance.

Yinxuan began her music career at the age of four. She has participated in 17 Chinese provincial and municipal violin competitions and won the first prize of Jianqsu Provincial Violin Solo Competition for two consecutive years. She joined the Changzhou Youth Symphony Orchestra in Jiangsu Province from the age of seven and served as its concertmaster from 2008 to 2014. She served as the concertmaster of Nanjing University of Science and Technology Symphony Orchestra from 2015 to 2020. In February 2023, she performed as visiting concertmaster with the London City Philharmonic Orchestra. As the main member of the orchestra, she cooperated with many local opera orchestras in Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai. Participated in the creation and performance of many outstanding contemporary Chinese opera works, including the award-winning works of the 5th Jiangsu Provincial Wenhua Award.

Carrying a strong capability, Yinxuan’s performance engagement included concerts at Duke’s Hall and Susie Sainsbury Theatre, Mermaid Theatre, St. James Church, China Grand Theatre, Jiangsu Grand Theatre, Suzhou Kunqu Opera Cultural Center, Suzhou Poly Grand Theatre, Changzhou Poly Grand Theatre, etc.

She studied with Dickson Ho, concertmaster of the Hong Kong Symphony Orchestra, and now studies with renowned violinists Rodney Friend and Joshua Fisher at Royal Academy of Music.

 

Siyu Lai is a versatile violinist who has both master degree of science and master degree of violin performance. Now, she is doing a professional diploma at the Royal Academy of Music. After getting a master degree of E-business management at Warwick University, she started her music life at Royal Academy of Music, with the guidance of professor Rodney Friend and Sophie Landon for 3 years.

She started to learn violin when she was 4 years old. She has been heard as a violinist in many Halls in different countries, including China, Germany, Austria, Czech Republic and Australia, including Duke’s Hall, Stephen church in London, Oxford university church of St Mary, Studio of Zhejiang TV, Hangzhou Grand Theatre. In 2013, she played as a soloist at the Sydney Opera House in Australia. Her experience was reported by many famous China media: Phoenix.com, Sina.com, Zhejiang Daily. In 2021, she held 3 solo programs at Royal Academy of Music. Also, she has many scholarships because of her talent in violin: The Zhejiang province scholarship, ZJGSU scholarship for art talent, 2021 entrance scholarship of RAM, RNCM, RCS were awarded to her. In 2013, she won the first prize in Zhejiang province violin competition. In 2017, she won the first prize in HK music festival. In 2019, she got fourth prize in HK international strings competition.

 

Rui Wu is a young pianist currently doing artist diploma in Royal College of music, she was graduated from Royal academy of music and Central conservatory of music, get the undergraduate and master’s degrees in piano. She has extensive experience performing in various countries such as the United States, Italy, the UK, Hongkong, Bulgaria, and other European countries. Some of the venues she has performed in include Beijing Concert Hall, The National Grand Theatre, Church of St. Mary the Virgin, Wigmore Hall, Duke’s Hall, Dimenna Center for Classical Music, Masetro Georgi Atanasov Concert Hall, Steinway Hall, and Imola Concert Hall, among others. In addition, she has collaborated with the Bulgarian Symphony Orchestra, Beijing Symphony Orchestra, and Central Conservatory of Music Orchestra. In 2015, she held the “Magic Tour” recital concert in cities across mainland China. Since 2016, she has been invited to perform piano for the British Embassy, the Central and Eastern European Countries Cooperation New Year Gala, the Ceremony of BAZAAR and FARFETCH, and the International Ceramic Exhibitions, among others.

Rustem Hayroudinoff commented that Rui is a gifted young pianist with a strong technical command and impressive artistic intuition and temperament, while Maestro Gregor Palikarov commented that Rui is a very talented pianist and a fast learner with a high understanding of music.
