St Peter's Day Concert - sung by Bath Abbey Choirs of Girls and Men

The St Peter’s Day concert combines the celebration of the Abbey’s Patron Saint Peter with an end of year concert for the Abbey Choirs. The Abbey Girls and Men have been busy this past year. In December they were broadcast live on BBC Radio 3, in May they performed Handel’s Messiah with early music ensemble Canzona. All the solos were sung by members of the choir. In February they welcomed the Norwich Cathedral Girls’ Choir to the Abbey. The choir also featured in a concert to a full Abbey at Christmas.

Music to include Allegri’s famous Miserere (Psalm 51) and three Spirituals ‘Steal away’, ‘Were you there’ and ‘Didn’t my Lord deliver Daniel?’ arranged by Tippett, Bob Chilcott and Moses Hogan. The choir will also perform Bach’s glorious eight-part motet Der Geist hilft.
It will be one of the first events in the newly restored Abbey sanctuary and the choir will sing under the stunning east end window.
