Lunchtime Recital - Hyde Park United Methodist Church Choir

Hyde Park United Methodist Church’s Chancel Choir is a group of dedicated volunteers who provide music for the weekly Sunday Traditional Service, special liturgical services throughout the year, and concerts at various times.  They present a varied repertoire that centers on American music from the last fifty years.  Recent performances have included Dan Forrest’s Requiem for the Living, Ola Gjeillo’s Sunrise Mass, John Rutter’s Gloria, as well as a staged version of Gian Carlo Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors.

Michael Dougherty currently serves as Director of Traditional Music and Worship Team Leader at Hyde Park United Methodist Church in Tampa, Florida.  He has served churches throughout the Eastern United States and served for three years as Organ Scholar at Westminster College, Oxford, England.  He holds the Master of Sacred Music from Emory University, and the Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.  He also serves as the Dean of the Tampa Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, and as the Choral Area Chair for the Fellowship of United Methodists in Music and Worship Arts’ “Music Week.”  A consecrated Diaconal Minster, Michael is passionate about leading God’s people in worship and song.
