Simon Bartels, Music Department Assistant, writes…
“On Saturday 29 June the Youth Choir of Brunswick (my hometown in Germany!), is visiting Bath as part of their annual Concert Tour. I am very excited to tell you that they will join the Abbey Girls and Lay Clerks to perform Evensong at 5pm to celebrate the Twinning of Braunschweig and Bath.
Both cities have been twinned for 53 years and we are very glad to be able to celebrate this partnership by performing music together. After the joint Evensong, the Choir of Brunswick Cathedral will perform an admission-free informal concert with a diverse and interesting program under the title “Arise, Become Light!”
There will also be a prosecco and Pimms bar in the interval between Evensong and the concert, where you can have a chat or simply enjoy the Abbeyˋs atmosphere.
The Youth Choir of Brunswick Cathedral is the Choir I grew up singing in and I am very much looking forward to seeing two very important chapters of my life perform music together. It would mean a lot to me to see you there.”
