Operations Support

Job Purpose: To support Bath Abbey’s vision to be a ‘People and Place Fully Alive’ and the three core pillars of ‘Worship, Hospitality and Justice’. Working with other members of the Operations team, under the leadership of the Operations manager, to ensure the smooth running of the Abbey as a place of worship, a visitor attraction, a venue for events and concerts. 

Part time: 24hrs per week with the possibility of overtime. To be able to work flexibly but mainly covering weekends

Accountability: The Operations Manager

Pay: £21,860.80 FTE (40 hours) pro rata

Tower Tour Guide

We are looking for enthusiastic guides with great communication skills to join the increasingly busy Abbey Tower Tour team. The role primarily involves leading engaging and informative guided tours of the Abbey tower and welcoming visitors to our busy church. The hours are casual with the option to increase during the busy tourist seasons; regular Saturdays will be required.

PAY: We pay the Real Living Wage recommended by the Living Wage Foundation.

£10.31 per hour (18+)

£7.43 per hour (16 - 17)

Finance Manager

JOB PURPOSE: To ensure that the accounts and financial records of Bath Abbey are managed to the highest professional standards and to provide financial information to assist management decision making

FULL TIME:  We are recruiting for a full-time permanent position - Finance Manager.

SALARY:  Full Time Salary range £35k-£43k dependent upon experience.

Based on 40 hours per week

HOLIDAY ENTITLEMENT: 25 days + bank holidays

LINE MANAGER: Executive Director

RESPONSIBLE FOR: the accounting & financial systems of the Abbey, including those of the Bath Abbey Footprint Project

Deputy Visitors Services Manager

Reports to: Visitor Services Manager

Responsible for: To manage day to day visitor operations at Bath Abbey by leading a team of volunteers and paid staff to deliver a 5-star visitor experience

Salary: £20k-£23k depending on experience

Hours: 40 per week Including regular weekends and evenings

Annual Leave: 25 days + bank holidays

Overall purposes of the post:

  • To ensure staff and volunteers provide a consistently excellent welcome at the front desk and excellent service as stewards and guides.
  • To continually develop the visitor experience by drawing on best practice and innovation at other similar visitor attractions.
  • To regularly evaluate and report on the quality of the visitor experience.

Learning Officer

CONTRACT: 4 Years, anticipated start date January–March 2020
