Ringing times

The Abbey’s ten bells are rung every Sunday from 10.30am to 11.15am. On the first Sunday in the month we also ring from 5.30pm to 6.30pm for the evening service.

Changes to usual ringing times

  • On Sunday 27 October the bells will be rung 9.15am-10.00am for the single morning service.

  • On Sunday 3 November 2019, there will be no ringing for the evening serviceas a quarter peal will instead be attempted before Choral Evensong.

  • On 10 November, Remembrance Sunday, the bells will be rung (half-muffled) 10.20am-10.50am. In addition, a quarter peal will be attempted immediately after the afternoon Royal British Legion service.

Ringing practice

Bell ringing practice takes place on Monday evenings between 7.30pm and 9pm (even on Bank Holidays). For security reasons the door will be locked at 7.40pm and further entry to the ringing chamber is not possible after this time.

Bell ringing at the Abbey also takes place at other times to mark special occasions or significant anniversaries.
