The Bath Abbey Choir is bringing some festive cheer to shoppers with their music all around town – in the form of a QR code.
Posters with a QR code that will enable shoppers to listen to a Christmas medley sung by the Abbey Choir are on display in various local businesses, including Mr B’s emporium, The Silver Shop and Meticulous Ink.
Huw Williams, Bath Abbey’s Director of Music, said “It’s been such a gloomy year for so many of us, we wanted to help spread some festive cheer in a Covid-safe way. We’re unable to host our usual carols for shoppers at the Abbey this year, and have also had to severely limit attendance for our Christmas concerts, so we thought this might be a rather fun alternative for local shoppers. The idea is that as you’re walking around town, you might want to pause for a breather – you could then scan in the QR code and enjoy listening to our Choir singing some Christmassy tunes.”
The QR code links to the Bath Abbey Choir singing a medley of three Christmas tunes: ’Gaudete!’, ‘O come all ye Faithful’ and ‘Hark the herald Angels’. These are all from the Choir’s new Christmas album, ‘Gaudete’, which features 12 Christmas choral classics. The album was recorded earlier this year in January and is now available to purchase online and from the Abbey Shop for £13.
