SUNDAY 17 OCTOBER 2021: Please note our services are different for this Sunday. We're holding two special services: A 'Freedom' service to mark anti-slavery day at 10.15am and a Footprint Celebration Service (ticketed) at 3pm. The 8am will go ahead as usual but there will not be Choral Evensong at 3.30pm or an Informal Service at 6.30pm.
Welcome to Bath Abbey
A moment of stillness in the beating heart of a vibrant city. A space that’s alive with music and prayer, art and history. A place where awe-inspiring architecture lifts the eyes – and raises the spirit. Bath Abbey is many things to many people. But whether you come here to join a service or a tour, light a candle or listen to music, what unites us all is a sense of wonder. There is so much to discover – please step inside…
Message from our Rector
“Come unto me, all you who are weary and are heavy laden” said Jesus to the crowds who gathered around him, “and I will give you rest”.
It is a great delight to welcome everyone to the Abbey, so that all may draw near to the Lord in the stillness of this holy place. We hope that our visitors will share our joy in seeing the Abbey much changed since they last were here. With the floor now fully restored, the new eco-heating installed and the hoardings inside the Abbey taken down, the beauty of our renewed worship space is simply overwhelming.
I join the whole Bath Abbey family in praying for God’s love and renewing strength to greet you afresh, and to fill your hearts with peace as you draw near to Him”
The Revd Canon Guy Bridgewater
Rector of Bath Abbey
A Place to Come to God...
We look forward to welcoming you to Bath Abbey, and are open daily for visiting and worship. There is plenty to see and do in the Abbey for visitors including our Tower Tours, exhibitions, concerts and other events.
Government guidance for Covid-19 has changed with many restrictions easing. There will be no need to book tickets for visiting or to attend a service, but before visiting for the first time, we ask you to please read through our Covid safety guidance.
We are currently offering five services on Sundays in the Abbey. You are also invited for daily prayers (Monday-Friday), as well as regular services of Holy Communion and Choral Evensong on weekdays and Saturdays.
We continue to live-stream two of our Sunday services and offer a Thought for the Week and an Anthem for the Week via our website and Youtube. If you've missed or would like to watch any of our Thoughts, please visit our Bath Abbey Youtube Channel
As a working church that plays an active role in the community, the Abbey is at times closed for general visiting due to services or special events. Please see changes and variations to opening times below.
