City of Bath Bach Choir - Bach Mass in B minor
Having performed in the first Bath Bach Festival in October 1950, the City of Bath Bach Choir, founded in 1946 by Cuthbert Bates, took part in a further eight festivals until 1982. Closely following a new Bath mini-Bachfest, the choir returns to its roots with a performance of J S Bach’s iconic Mass in B minor.
The ultimate ambition for all choirs to sing, under the outstanding musicianship of Nigel Perrin, this will rise to the challenge with the choir’s usual combination of technical precision, compassion and musical flair.
Greatly enhanced by Margaret Faultless’s brilliant orchestra, Music for Awhile, playing on authentic baroque instruments, and an array of fantastic soloists with the ever dependable Marcus Sealy on Organ Continuo, in his 30th year with the choir, this performance promises to offer a major highlight to Bath’s springtime concert scene.
