Day in the Life of a Monk

What was it like to be a Medieval monk?

Over 30 pupils from St Julian's C of E Primary School, Wellow, found out the answer to this when they took part in the first ever 'Day in the Life of a Monk' schools’ workshop at the Abbey. The children enjoyed activities ranging from trying on monk's robes to writing with quills and learnig to sing some plain chant. Our massive thanks to everyone involved for making it a hugely enjoyable event for the pupils.

We received very positive feedback from the school including a note of thanks from one of the teachers: “Really lovely to have a go at everything. The facilitators were very child friendly and knowledgeable.  The workshop supports the R.E. and history curriculum brilliantly. The children have a real insight into monastic life and life in those times. Everyone made us welcome.”

However, the best quote of the day came from a little girl who said: “This is a dream come true”!
