1) Worship

Where earth and heaven meet as we...
Come to God in worship

We are aware that we belong to a world that is unsure of its purpose.

We believe that to worship God is to participate in the life of heaven and

so fulfil our eternal purpose.

We commit ourselves to:

+ offer worship that is accessible and worthy of God the Holy Trinity;

+ provide a diversity of styles of worship on Sundays, traditional to

contemporary, formal to informal;

+ provide financial resources for the support of excellence in worship;

+ provide opportunities for regular corporate worship each day Monday-

Saturday;

+ continue to develop a pattern of annual services that celebrates the

Christian year and that both draws occasional worshippers into the

Abbey on a regular basis and encourages Christians in surrounding

parishes;

+ support fresh expressions of faith through appropriate worship;

+ create annual opportunities to reflect on spiritual formation such as

prayer and scripture reading;

+ encourage the formation and support of prayer groups;

+ encourage the formation and support of prayer triplets;

+ trial a central, corporate Prayer Meeting;

+ endeavour to enhance the visitors’ experience of faith by offering them

different ways of praying and reflecting on God and helping them to

pray;

+ respect the way others worship as being of equal value to our own

preferred style;

+ pray for our mutual Christian life and ministry.
