Annual Review 2016-2017

Our Annual Review of 2016-2017 looks back on 12 months of growth, development, change and hope for Bath Abbey. Footprint, our ambitious programme of work to secure the physical future of the Abbey, made excellent progress, and we reflected on our values to help us connect and engage with the world around us.

Our many highlights (in no particular order) included:

  • Thousands of Bibles and Booklets received gladly by Shoppers Carols at Christmas
  • Visit by The Archbishop of Canterbury: his challenge to pray and party
  • A Palestinian, Arab, Christian telling his story of loss, survival and hope
  • A baby brought to the Abbey a year after a prayer for conception despite the odds
  • Closing the year with the Abbey balance sheet in good shape
  • The Schools Singing Programme massed choir singing Zadok The Priest
  • Award of a Round 2 Heritage Lottery Fund Grant of £10.7 million for Footprint
  • A new marriage for divorcees celebrating faith and love
  • Faith@One – lunchtime Alpha course giving birth to new Christians
  • Thousands provoked to think about refugees in a new way by i Migration butterflies
