Great Bath Bake Sale

Date: Saturday, 7th October, 11am - 3pm

Join us for a really fun day out as our annual bake sale returns to the Abbey this October. Charities will be selling home-baked goods and coffee and tea in the Abbey to raise money for local causes and the Footprint Project. There will also be pizza making for kids taking place in the South Transept, a bicycle powered smoothie maker by the Font (must be over 130cm tall!) and a fun card game about food waste hosted by FoodCycle.

Last year 3,000 people attended our Bake Sale to raise over £2,500 for the charities involved and we hope to build on that success.

What’s in store this year?

As part of the city-wide Great Bath Feast, charities will be selling sweet and savoury baked goods in the Abbey to raise funds for their causes. So if all you do on the day is come in to buy a treat, you’ll be supporting them and the Abbey’s Footprint Project. Participating charities include Genesis Trust

Off the Record, BEMSCA, The Carers’ Centre, MentoringPlus and BathMind.

This year’s Bake Sale will include some exciting new activities in partnership with FoodCycle - a wonderful charity which aims to unite and nourish communities using surplus food:

  • Pizza-making for children – with a twist! All ingredients will be from food that would otherwise have been thrown away
  • Pedal-power smoothies – Combine cycling with smoothie making thanks to Julian House’s bicycle-powered smoothie maker

We need your help!

An event such as this can only happen with the help of people who volunteer their time.  We would be extremely grateful if you could help. For more details please contact Ollie Taylor as soon as possible on otaylor@bathabbey.org 01225 303322, or drop off a note for Ollie to the Abbey Office.

As part of the Great Bath Bake Sale, we’ll be collecting for Bath Foodbank and need your help! In 2016-17, The Trussell Trust’s Foodbank Network provided over 1.1 million emergency food supplies and support to UK people in crisis. Of these, over 430,000 went to children. Demand on Bath’s Foodbank is increasing so we are collecting food so that fewer people experience food poverty and hunger in our local communities.

If you would like to help, please bring any of the items below to the Abbey Office between Monday 25th and Friday 29th September (Mon-Fri, 9.30am-4.00pm):
• Soup (tins) • Chocolate/sweets • Pasta sauces (jars)
• Coffee (small jars) • Jam (jars) • Instant mash
• Rice puddings (tins) • Biscuits • Sponge puddings
• Tomatoes (tins) • Toiletries (not gift packs)
