Children and Youth in Bath Abbey
The Abbey welcomes
children and young people of all ages. It is always a delight to see them. We
have a Parish Communion at 9.15 where the service includes Sunday learning or
discussion for the children and young people.

We offer the children
and young people an opportunity to develop their faith using lectionary based
material sourced from a variety of learning styles. We also use Godly play for
all age groups, and a variety of craft ideas.
The groups are run by
Abbey congregation volunteers, students and the children and family coordinator.
Katy Garner Children and Families Co-ordinator
We all begin in the service together at
9.15am, with children sitting with their parents. After the Collect for the day
the children are asked to come to the front of the Abbey where the priest says a
prayer before they go off to their groups with the leaders and helpers (Parents
can come too, if children would like them to!)
The children are brought back in by the leaders and rejoin the service in time
for Communion or Blessing with their parents.
Towards the end of the service, they are sometimes invited to the front of the
Abbey to show us something they have produced together; or to explain what they
have been discussing.
We are always delighted to meet new Families who join us in the Abbey, the
children’s and Families co-ordinator is always at the 9.15 service. There are
also opportunities for children who are not in the choirs to participate in the
worship. There are also all age services during the year and a very popular
Donkey service (see photos below) in the advent season.
