We offer the children and young people an
opportunity to develop their faith using lectionary based material sourced from
a variety of learning styles. We also use godly play for an all age groups on a
once a term basis.
The groups are run by Abbey congregation
volunteers, Time for God students, University students and the Children and
Families Coordinator.

We all begin in
the service together at 9.15am, with children sitting with their parents. After
the Collect for the day the children are asked to come to the front of the Abbey
where we say a prayer before they go off to their groups with the leaders and
helpers (Parents can come too, if children would like them to!)
The children are brought back in by the leaders and rejoin the service in time
for Communion or Blessing with their parents. Towards the end of the service,
they are sometimes invited to the front of the Abbey to show us something they
have produced together; or to explain what they have been discussing.
We are always
pleased to meet new families who join us in the Abbey, the Children and
Families Co-ordinator is always at the 9.15 service. There are opportunities for
children who are not in the choirs to participate in the worship. There are also
all-age services during the year and a very popular Donkey service (see photos
below) on the Sunday before Christmas.
Look out for other
special events such as
the nativity sculpture, pig painting and children’s party shown in the pictures below.
